Twaddle's a bit steep i'd say Martyl. Gordon obviously isn't the 'perfect rider' like yourself, and lives in the real world where accidents happen, especially to bikers who ride 365 days a year. I drive a rear-wheel drive car and that's bad enough in the snow, and i've got 4 wheels! Still, i haven't hit anything while driving it in inclement weather, but i am a perfect driver...
Money is no object? I'm afraid it is, and a hefty repair bill for scratched/broken fairings after a low-speed fall on icy roads near your workplace should be taken into consideration when purchasing an all-year bike.
